5 important fights between Brazil and Peru in the Copa America 2021 semi-final

Brazil will play Peru in the Copa America 2021 semi-final, while Argentina will face Colombia in the other last-four match.

Brazil won 4-0 over Peru in their second Copa America 2021 group game. Peru will be hoping for a better finish this time after making it thus far in the competition.

Meanwhile, Tite’s team has a wealth of talent, including Neymar, Gabriel Barbosa, Richarlison, and Roberto Firmino, among others. Peru, on the other hand, should not be underestimated, as they have the ability to cause issues for the defending champions.

On that topic, let’s examine the five critical skirmishes between the two teams that could determine the game’s fate.

Gianluca Lapadula vs. #5 Eder Militao (Brazil) (Peru)

Eder Militao had a strong Copa America 2021 campaign, although he did not start for Brazil against Chile in the quarter-final.

At the Copa America 2021, Brazil boss Tite has alternated between Militao, Marquinhos, and Thiago Silva, but the former could get an opportunity against Peru. If that happens, Real Madrid’s centre-back will have to watch out for Peru’s Gianluca Lapadula, who has been a strong leader for his country thus far.

Lapadula was born in Italy and has formerly played for Parma, AC Milan, and Genoa. He currently plays for Benevento. The 31-year-old has two goals for Peru in the Copa America 2021 and is a tough defender who can cause difficulties for opponents.

With Sergio Ramos exiting the club and Raphael Varane being linked with a move away, Militao will most likely start at centre-back for Real Madrid next season. Peru and Lapadula, on the other hand, could put his credentials to the test in Copa America 2021.

#4 Richarlison (Brazil) vs Miguel Trauco (Peru)

Miguel Trauco has started the last few games for Peru at left-back in the Copa America 2021, and he is expected to start again against Brazil.

Meanwhile, Richarlison has been a key player for Brazil throughout the tournament. Although the forward did not have the best of seasons with Everton, Tite clearly thinks highly of him.

At Copa America 2021, the 24-year-old has mostly played on the left wing or as a striker. But it’s not out of the question that he starts as a right winger versus Peru.

If Trauco, who plays for Ligue 1 team Saint-Etienne, is forced to deal with Richarlison, he would face a difficult task.

Richarlison has good speed and technical skill, and he might be a major threat to Peru on the wings. Meanwhile, the 28-year old Trauco is an experienced campaigner who will have to do his homework well.
