Sonic the Hedgehog is 30 years old, and Sega is celebrating by putting Sonic and his companions in Minecraft.
Sega is celebrating Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary with a new Sonic the Hedgehog game that can be played on Minecraft. A new Minecraft Sonic DLC (downloadable content) pack allows players to unlock Sonic universe environments in Minecraft while traversing obstacles and bosses in order to acquire rings.
This new game was launched on Twitter by the Sonic the Hedgehog social media account, which stated, “It’s Sonic’s turn to be yeeted into Minecraft.” The profile also uploaded a teaser video of the game, which shows Sonic and his friends racing through the gameverse in a blocky Minecraft manner.

The Green Hills Zone and the Chemical Plant Zone are two of the most well-known zones in the Minecraft Sonic DLC bundle. Knuckles and Tails, as well as other well-known characters, are included in the new game. As they race for high scores, gamers will be able to “grab rings, dash through obstacles, destroy bosses, and gain momentum” with this DLC.
Minecraft is also planning a special server event that will include mini-games and a “few merry surprises” as part of the festivities. Every weekend, there will be something fresh to look forward to, and fans are encouraged to check-in.
This Minecraft Sonic DLC is part of the 30th anniversary celebrations for Sonic the Hedgehog, which will also involve the release of a Sonic Colors remake. Sega is also rumored to be working on a new game named Sonic Rangers. The release date for this game is set for 2022.
