Otavio Monteiro, a dynamic attacking midfielder for FC Porto, is apparently enticed by Liverpool’s interest in signing him.
Liverpool are not the only team interested in signing the highly regarded 26-year-old forward, according to Portuguese daily Correio da Manha (via Pailsey Gates). Other teams are thought to be keeping an eye on Otavio, notably Valencia in La Liga and Fiorentina in Serie A.
The possibility of playing under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, on the other hand, appeals to the midfielder, who is willing to join Liverpool if a deal can be struck this summer. Otavio’s contract with FC Porto runs until the summer of 2025, with a €60 million release clause. However, a clause in his contract allows him to leave for €40 million for one month only.
Liverpool will have to act quickly not simply to stay ahead of the competition, but also to sign the 26-year-old for a lower fee.
Monteiro is a player with a wide range of skills. He typically plays as an offensive midfielder, but he can also play on either flank. As a possible substitute for Georginio Wijnaldum, Otavio may also play in midfield.
