Argentina’s triumph is their second in a row, putting them one step closer to earning their 15th Copa America crown. This is also the first time in five games that Paraguay has lost to Argentina.

Argentina, who are currently undefeated in 16 games, looked good at times but did not control the game. The early goal gave the team an edge, but Paraguay battled hard to stay in the game, coming near on a couple of occasions but unable to worry the goalkeeper.

Scaloni is unconcerned about his team’s lackluster performance because the three points put Argentina atop Group A. Paraguay, which has only played two games, still has a chance to get to the knockout stages.

Di Maria provides the assist by playing a lovely weighted pass into the area for Gomez, who neatly dinks it past the Paraguay goalkeeper. Argentina has taken control of the game with an early goal.

7' Aguero squanders a great chance! The ball falls nicely for Aguero after a defensive mix-up between two Paraguay defenders inside the box, with only the goalkeeper to beat. Aguero attempts a turn-around shot but only manages to hit the top of the net.
