Argentina won the Copa America 2021 final 1-0 against Brazil in the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, ending an almost three-decade wait for a trophy.
Angel Di Maria scored the game’s only goal with a beautiful finish on a Rodrigo de Paul feed past Brazil goalkeeper Ederson. As a result, the hosts were unable to create enough scoring opportunities and were usually inept in attack.
La Albiceleste fought valiantly to keep their slim lead. On the verge of securing the victory for Argentina, Lionel Messi lost his footing while rounding Ederson. However, the miss did not prove costly, as Argentina saw out the win to end a long trophy drought.
