Bayern Munich’s ‘preferred’ new signing is a Barcelona teenager. – Documents

According to Sport, Bayern Munich is interested in signing teenage Barcelona right-back Sergino Dest this summer (via Barca Blaugranes).

Bayern Munich’s “first choice” for a new right-back for the upcoming season, according to the aforementioned source, is Sergino Dest.

The Bavarian giants are preparing to take advantage of Barcelona’s financial difficulties this summer by signing one of their right-backs, with Dest being their favoured option. At the moment, Barcelona has three right-backs in their squad: Sergino Dest, Sergi Roberto, and Emerson Royal.

In the other side, Bayern Munich is short on right-backs. Their only known member is Benjamin Pavard.

Barcelona’s financial problems may force the club to sell some of its periphery players. Both Dest and Emerson Royal, on the other hand, appear to be in Ronald Koeman’s plans for next season.

Koeman recently praised Emerson in an interview. Barcelona’s manager stated:

“Being called up for Brazil in the midst of so many excellent players speaks for itself. We saw his season with Betis and believe he will offer a physical quality to our game, as well as the ability to attack, which we value in our full backs.”

Sergi Roberto is now the sole member of Blaugrana. Since last season, the 29-year-old has been in and out of the Barcelona squad, with the Catalan giants reportedly willing to transfer their academy graduate for the appropriate price.

Sergino Dest previously turned down a move to Barcelona from Bayern Munich.
Despite Bayern Munich’s interest, Sergino Dest wants to stay at the Nou Camp and battle for a spot in the first team. However, Bayern Munich is not the first club to express interest in signing the 20-year-old American international.

Dest passed declined the chance to join Bayern Munich prior to joining Barcelona from Ajax because he favored Barcelona at the time. Dest had stated in his explanation:

“Bayern is a fantastic club, and they were interested in me, but I did what my heart told me to do and signed for Barca. It was, in my opinion, the best decision. They’re a historic club, and I’ve always wanted to play there.”
