This week’s show of NXT was fantastic, featuring a lot of big events. A homecoming, a devastating betrayal, and some potentially terrific narrative were all on display. This was to be expected, given how close NXT TakeOver 36 is approaching.
The show was fantastic, but it could have been even better if it hadn’t been taped the week before. If the show’s spoilers hadn’t appeared, it could have been one of the best episodes of NXT all year. Nonetheless, the changes have helped to improve the product.
TakeOver 36 should hopefully be moved outside of the Capitol Wrestling Center by NXT. Instead of the limited capacity that the black and gold brand has previously accommodated, a card with such huge potential demands a full arena of spectators.
Anyway, let’s take a look at the major strengths and disadvantages from an action-packed NXT episode. What were your thoughts on the show? Please let us know in the comments section below.
3 Best/Worst: Dakota Kai attacks Raquel Gonzalez, the NXT Women’s Champion.
Following months of Raquel Gonzalez smashing every task put in front of her, the championship scenario in NXT’s Women’s division recently got a massive boost in the arm. Dakota Kai delivered a blazing speech to pump up ‘Big Mami Cool,’ before turning on her and claiming the NXT Women’s Championship for herself.
This was a quick move with little build-up. The reversal, though, is significant because of Gonzalez and Kai’s relationship over the last 18 months. Their feud for the NXT Women’s Championship will be hot, which is exactly what the belt needs.
Despite her multiple championship defenses, Raquel Gonzalez’s reign has not been the most successful. Dakota Kai’s treachery has already boosted it, and the following few weeks are likely to tell an intriguing story as NXT TakeOver 36 approaches. The inevitable matchup between them at the tournament will be spectacular as well.
In the long run, it would have been preferable for Kai and Gonzalez to stay together, but a split was required to keep the NXT Women’s Title picture fresh.
