In India’s second intra-squad match, Kuldeep Yadav grabs 3 wickets and Chahal 2.

In the second intra-squad simulation match in Colombo, Indian bowlers looked fantastic, with the spinners in particular – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal – splitting five wickets between them.

Chahal can be seen dismissing Nitish Rana and Krishnappa Gowtham in a short video uploaded by Sri Lanka Cricket’s YouTube channel, while Kuldeep Yadav roars back to form with three scalps.

The wickets also include Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, and Chetan Sakariya. Chetan Sakariya took the all-important scalp of the tour’s skipper Shikhar Dhawan, while Saini breathed fire by dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and Hardik Pandya.

These aren’t the entire list of highlights. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Sandeep Warrier each took at least one wicket in the game, as Sportskeeda previously reported.

Starting on July 13, the Shikhar Dhawan-led India team will play three ODIs and as many T20Is in Sri Lanka. In the absence of practice matches, the visiting team is preparing for the series by playing intra-squad T20 games.

Dhawan and vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar have led the two sides in two games so far, with the latter’s team winning the first.

The wickets of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are a significant boost for India.

While the young bowling group’s overall form is encouraging for India, the management will be particularly pleased with the performances of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.

The former hasn’t been able to play much cricket in recent years and has shown a lack of confidence in the few opportunities he has had.

Yuzvendra Chahal, on the other hand, was one of the front-runners for the T20 World Cup until he was dropped following a couple of disappointing T20I series.

India will be hoping that the spin-twins can continue their strong form in the main limited-overs series and maybe the second half of the IPL 2021.
