Here are the most popular games in May 2021, based on the number of downloads on the App Store and Play Store. Surprisingly, fashion games triumphed over action-adventure games.
Because of the epidemic, most of us have been staying in and playing games to keep ourselves occupied and take a break. Games have helped many of us overcome numerous pandemic blues, whether we’re playing them online on our smartphones or tablets, or on consoles, computers, or PCs. With partial lockdowns still in place in many parts of the world due to the epidemic, here’s a look back at May 2021 and the top downloaded mobile games of the month. And, surprise, surprise, fashion games have won this round over action games.
Hair Challenge (Rollic Games) was the most downloaded mobile game worldwide in May 2021, according to Sensor Tower data, with 36.5 million downloads. India topped the list of countries that downloaded Hair Challenge the most, with 22.4 percent, followed by Brazil with 7.5 percent. With 32.3 million installs in May 2021, Supersonic Studios’ Bridge Race was the second most downloaded mobile game worldwide. With 18.5 percent, India was the most popular country to download Bridge Race, followed by Brazil with 8%.
Paper Fold (Good Job Games), the pandemic-favorite Ludo King (Gametion), and Garena Free Fire rounded out the top three most downloaded mobile games worldwide (Garena).
Three of the top ten most downloaded mobile games are fashion games: High Heels (Zynga), Hair Challenge, and Makeover Run (Moonee). In May 2021, fashion-themed games achieved a total of 65 million installs. In May of this year, another fashion-themed game, Project Makeover (Magic Tavern), placed fourth on the Apple App Store with almost 4 million installs.
