Jose Mourinho is unconcerned about facing Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A because “I’m not playing at centre-back.”

Jose Mourinho, the newly appointed manager of AS Roma, has stated that he is unconcerned about facing former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo in Serie A next season.

When asked if he would confront Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch, Mourinho joked that he would be in the doghouse and not face the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Mourinho said (as reported by Goal):

“No, because I’m not playing at centre-back. Had I played centre-back, I’d have hit him, but unfortunately I’m not good enough and I’m too old to play against him.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has a fantastic record when it comes to AS Roma. The 36-year-old attacker has ten goals in 12 official games.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho guided Cristiano Ronaldo to some of his best seasons. Under Mourinho, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 168 goals in just 164 appearances at the Bernabéu.

Jose Mourinho is back in Serie A after leading Inter Milan to an unprecedented treble 11 years ago. The “Special One,” on the other hand, isn’t a fan of comparing two different managers at the same team. Mourinho stated, “

“There are some coaches in the club’s history that you should never compare to others. At Roma, for example, don’t compare Fabio Capello or Nils Liedholm to other coaches. For Inter, never compare others to Helenio Herrera or me, because you can’t do that.”
