Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing a 19-year-old Belgian winger.

So far this summer, Liverpool’s transfer activity has been relatively quiet. According to renowned Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, the Reds are interested in signing Jeremy Doku of Stade Rennais and the Belgian national team.

Doku had a couple standout performances during Euro 2020, even replacing Eden Hazard in Belgium’s starting lineup against Italy in the quarterfinals. In addition, the 19-year-old had a decent season with Rennes in Ligue 1, scoring two goals and adding two assists in 30 games.

According to Galetti, the Reds are considering a move worth up to €40 million.

Doku began his professional career with RSC Anderlecht in Belgium, earning him a call-up to the national squad and a move to Rennes last year. The 19-year-old has now appeared in ten games for Belgium, scoring two goals.

Despite the team’s 2-1 loss to Italy, Doku made an impression on the left side, using his directness to get one-on-one with defenders and trying to be a source of inspiration for his country. Since then, speculation about the rest of his future has grown.

The winger is now one of Liverpool’s’main objectives,’ according to Galetti.

This summer, Liverpool could add attacking reinforcements.

With relation to their attacking players, Liverpool is currently in a difficult situation. Despite a slew of injuries at the back, Jurgen Klopp’s side struggled in front of goal for much of the league season, with his attacking players having little to no influence.

To make it even more difficult for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has yet to sign a new deal with the club. Salah and Sadio Mane may miss a significant portion of next season while playing Egypt and Senegal, respectively, at the Africa Cup of Nations.

So it’s no surprise that Jeremy Doku and other attacking players have been linked with Liverpool. Following the success of their purchase for Diogo Jota last year, speculations surfaced earlier this week that the Reds were interested in 21-year-old Wolves winger Pedro Neto.

They’ve also been linked with Aleksander Isak of Sweden and Real Sociedad, as well as Kingsley Coman of France and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool are said to be ‘near’ to signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahim Konate and have been linked with a midfielder to replace Georginio Wijnaldum. This summer, Wijnaldum joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Attacking reinforcements, on the other hand, may become a priority for Jurgen Klopp this summer.
