Liverpool’s Premier League season in 2020-21 can only be described as mixed. Early in the season, the Reds lost defensive star Virgil van Dijk, which seemed to set off a chain reaction of injuries.
Injury forced at least three starters to miss significant time throughout the season. Their ability to compete for titles in England and Europe was severely limited as a result of this.
Liverpool’s illustrious home record at Anfield was shattered in the middle of the season, and they were at their lowest point of the season. They went from having not lost a game in almost two years to losing six in a row.
Despite this, the Reds finished in a respectable third place, an achievement that many predicted would be unachievable throughout the season.
There are a few crucial areas that need to be strengthened for Liverpool to be competitive in the Premier League next season. They will need to identify talented signings in order to compete with their opponents.
Liverpool’s prospective transfer targets for the summer
Yves Bissouma – Brighton (#5)
Fabrizio Romano on Liverpool signing a centre midfielder this summer:— Anfield Watch (@AnfieldWatch) June 25, 2021
“There are reports about Yves Bissouma but nothing is going on. It’s the same with Florian Neuhaus. Liverpool want the right opportunity in their hunt for the new Gini Wijnaldum.” #awlive [here we go podcast] pic.twitter.com/M8lLGqnJZe
With the departure of Wijnaldum, it appears that Liverpool will sign a midfielder with a similar profile. Neuhaus has previously played on the left side of midfield and is a very versatile player.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be a fan of the German teenager's abilities. Neuhaus' release clause is rumored to be £35 million, thus he would be a great addition to the squad.
