Manchester United and Villarreal defender Pau Torres are apparently moving closer to a deal. Torres has been reported as a key target for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is looking for a centre-back to complement Harry Maguire at the heart of his defense.
Manchester United has made Pau Torres a priority signing, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Real Madrid has rejected Manchester United’s offer for Raphael Varane, as the Red Devils are unwilling to accept Los Blancos’ €80 million estimate for the defender. As a result, they are concentrating all of their efforts this summer on luring Torres to Old Trafford.
Torres’ current contract with Villarreal expires in 2024. The defender has a €60 million release clause, but according to the source, while the club would love to receive the whole sum, they would accept a player-plus-cash deal if clubs could not match Torres’ price.
