Lionel Messi’s quest for an international trophy with Argentina continued as the La Albiceleste advanced to the Copa America final, where they will meet Brazil. Neymar had wished for Messi to play in the final, and the Argentine spoke about Neymar’s wish as well as Argentina’s success.
“I want Argentina, I’m rooting for them,” Neymar stated with a smile after Argentina’s 1-0 win over Peru advanced them to the final on Tuesday. “I have friends there, and Brazil will win the final.”
“We are both in the final,” Messi remarked when asked about Neymar’s words the other day. “I know Ney said it on the one hand because we are friends and he wanted me to be there too.”
The entire football world will be watching the final, which will feature two of the most gifted South American talents, playing for two of the most powerful teams. The game will elicit a lot of emotion, according to Messi, who stated that Argentina is more enthusiastic than they have ever been.
“It will very certainly be quite even and difficult. We’re very excited; we’ve accomplished our first goal, which was to play all of the games, and now we’re more excited than ever to win the Cup.”
Messi want team glory on a personal level as well. He said that the days had been difficult, but that the sacrifices made by the team would be worthwhile if they win at the final hurdle.
“We are really delighted and happy; individually, I have one more game to play; what I most want is to win a title with the National Team, but regardless of whether we raise the cup or not, I believe I have thoroughly enjoyed these 45 days away from my family. Some of the boys were fathers who were unable to be present on the most important day of their lives, the birth of their children. We’ve made all of the sacrifices and put in all of the effort towards the objective, and now we’ve arrived.”
