PSG will drop Cristiano Ronaldo in favor of pursuing a Bundesliga striker, according to reports.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, was said to be on his way to Paris Saint-Germain. However, current rumours claim that Les Parisiens are on the lookout for a new star striker.

The French giants are rumored to be interested in bringing Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to Paris. Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend, but in terms of how many strong seasons he has remaining, he pales in comparison to the youngster.

Since his debut at Red Bull Salzburg, the youthful sharpshooter has piqued the interest of a number of big European clubs. In his most recent appearances for the Bavarians, the 21-year-old ‘Terminator’ has been outstanding, scoring 42 goals in 44 Bundesliga matches.

Erling Haaland only stayed at the Austrian club for a year before being courted by practically every top European club. His tall frame and ability to hold onto the ball – combined with a strong work ethic – allow him to play as a complete forward.

Manchester United and Juventus appeared to be close to signing him in 2019, but Dortmund’s winning offer caught everyone off guard.

However, when Erling Haaland approaches the halfway point of his Bayern Munich deal, he will become far less expensive than Dortmund’s current €130 million estimate.

While Juventus will rekindle their interest in the Norwegian star, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract expiring, they must be careful of PSG’s desire.

The Parisians are notorious for their propensity to spend money on the world’s greatest players. Kylian Mbappe, their star forward, is being linked with a move to Real Madrid. Given the possibility of that happening next season, the Parisians are more likely to pursue a still-developing Haaland than than Cristiano Ronaldo, who is approaching retirement.

PSG is now in third place in Ligue 1 on goal difference, with Lionel Messi still to make his first appearance. This season, all eyes will be on Ligue 1 as the world watches to see how well Messi performs away from Barcelona.
