After Portugal’s 1-0 loss to Belgium in the Round of 16 at Euro 2020, Fernando Santos was full of praise for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite their best efforts, Portugal was defeated 1-0 by Belgium, thanks to a spectacular goal by Thorgan Hazard.
Cristiano Ronaldo was seen ripping off his captain’s armband and kicking it away at the end of the game, prompting speculation about whether the forward will be part of the national team at the 2022 World Cup.
Fernando Santos, on the other hand, was quick to put the rumors to rest, stating that Cristiano Ronaldo has his entire support. He spoke to the press:
“During the tournament, Ronaldo scored five goals. He didn’t have a goal today, but he was a genuine captain in every way. He attempted to change the game’s outcome. With Ronaldo, there is no problem.”
