What is Paxton Lynch’s motivation for joining the CFL? Examining the career path of a former NFL first-round choice

QB Paxton Lynch was seen as the future of the Denver Broncos after being selected 26th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. John Elway and the Broncos were left high and dry after Peyton Manning retired (pun intended).

Paxton Lynch was a mobile quarterback who was one of the most productive signal-callers in the Memphis program. In his two seasons with the Broncos, he only appeared in five games and made four starts. During that time, he passed for 792 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Paxton Lynch was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers in September 2020 after bouncing around between the Seattle Seahawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since 2017, Lynch hasn’t appeared in a game.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the CFL have signed Paxton Lynch.
